News stored on 25.02.2002 - PK2 #14 - L'ultima cacccia (The last hunting)
TN_cover_pk2-14.JPG (2568 byte)Reached the 14th issue, PK2 seems to be coming back to an average level. L'ULTIMA CACCIA (The last hunting) is an encouraging issue, although not the best. Bruno Enna's script is very good: despite some minor slippering and incoherence it proves nice, exciting and with some great shots, like the image of predator often applied to various characters. But the real surprise is the drawer, the new entry Giovanni Rigano: he's a young, talented drawer with a "Sciarrone-like" pencil. Refining Sciarrone's stroke with fine and soft inks, Rigano (sacrifying some of the plate's graphic impact) gives to his plates a lovely regularity. Unfortunately the Predator's design (no, it's not the 20th Fox's, Predator, don't make such illusions...) looks quite ridiculous and the cover's concept is completely far from the story theme - and it's better to leave apart those ugly Riportages...
Despite some rough things we can give this issue a good mark, waiting for the next one that should reveal all of Everett's secrets...
PKERS' rating (waiting for full review): 7,5

Meanwhile here are some news.

Kandrakar.it, the famous Witch site webmistred by Cheyenne (that has the peculiarity of changing graphics every month) has just moved... on our front door! Yeah man, Kandrakar came on Immaginario.net, that now hosts two of the most important websites about new-generation Disney comics. Kandrakar is officially recommended by PKERS as the best italian Witch site.

Meanwhile PK-prizes sites are multiplying.
As the PK2 Awards have entered in the 2nd phase (so now you can vote for finalists, and PKERS is among them, so another little effort please!) a pair of new sites are opening: PK Top 50 and PK Redmarks. Visit them:

News stored on 24.02.2002 - Goodbye, old site!
You were born from dust and you will return to dust, says the liturgy. Nothing more true: we are sorry to announce that a fire to the servers of Xoom.it has destroyed the last pieces of this site's older version, "PK: The Undiscovered Site". We silently cry the loose... hoping we saved somewhere the original files...

News stored on 16.02.2002 - De Nomine Situ
Yesterday, during a chat session, Fabiopk (webmaster of PkXtreme) and Silverware, webmaster of the present site PKERS, had a hard quarrel. Fabiopk said that we shouldn't call ourselves PKERS since, talking also of Witch & co., we are swindling visitor's trust and even offending his work. My public answer is very long and probably without interest for foreign visitors, so I won't translate it but for some shorter concepts.
  1. Talking about everything it's just my policy, and also my staff's one. We want to enlarge the landscape: there isn't only PK.
  2. PKERS is oriented to creativity and critic sense of the readers. I can't call this site in any other manner for this reason. Also graphics and original project, born when there was nothing but PK, are all PK-oriented, and it would take a lot of useless work to change it, that would be taken away from more interesting projects, including the translations.
  3. This is also the policy of the list Pkeri. A poll resulted in the victory of the topic's enlargement. PKERS is Pkeri's official site and so I can do it.
  4. PK-fans created the community first. We've been here since 6 years and we deserve some dignity reward for this.
  5. There is a very few material about non-PK comics. The main topic of the site is still PK.
  6. I rule over my site and do everything I want on it. I don't come bothering you on PkXtreme policy or title, so why you feel you have the right to criticize me, call me deceiver because I want to offer something more to my visitors (for FREE) and even feel offended by such a thing?
  7. I could take part in this discussion only joining secretly in the #pkchat channel and revealing me after having heard much of the thread. So if you need to say something to me, JUST COME TO ME PERSONALLY, DON'T TALK BEHIND MY SHOULDERS.

So please, from now only sensed critics. I don't want to loose any more time with this kind of stuff, I'm not at all interested with it and I think you aren't too. The community must be unique and toghether. This is my reply and I hope it's enough forever.

News stored on 13.02.2002 - Atlantis DVD rejected
news_dvdatlantis.jpg (16655 byte)Atlantis, the latest Disney movie, is talked-about again: badly, as you can imagine. The italian DVD home video version, in fact, has been fully rejected by many DVD online stores, due to the movie presentation in 4:3 tv format, not the real widescreen version; with the difference that the price is still the same, ultra-expensive as usual: 32 Euro!

Here we're quoting the official report from DVD2K (translation by PKERS):

30/1/2002 - ATLANTIS? NO THANKS
AFTER TAKING VIEW OF THE ATLANTIS' FEATURES, WE HAVE DECIDED TO MAKE IT UNAVAILABLE FOR SHIPPING. IN FACT WE DO NOT RETAIN CORRECT TOWARDS THE CONSUMER TO SELL A PRODUCT (WITH FULL PRICE!) WHICH IS NOT RESPECTING THE CORRECT ORIGINAL CINEMA FORMAT, USING INSTEAD A 4:3 PAN&SCAN. MOREOVER WE FEEL OFFENDED FROM THE FACT THAT IN ITALY IT WON'T BE POSSIBLE TO BUY (AND SO, ALSO SELL) THE SAME PRODUCT'S DELUXE VERSION (2 DVDs, SCREEN FORMAT 2.35:1 AND MUCH MORE). WE AGREE WITH OUR COLLEAGUE AND FRIEND OF DVDSAT IN TRYING, FROM NOW ON, TO SAVE THE CONSUMER FROM LOW-QUALITY PRODUCTS AND SO WE KINDLY ASK OUR OTHER COLLEAGUES TO FOLLOW US. FOR ANY FEEDBACK info@dvd2k.it

Then, after the movie's and the comic-book's failure now we have also the harsh criticism of the DVD, that makes even worse the situation for a product gone wrong under every point of view, which gained the blame of critic, public and even sellers. So it's "Atlantis, the lost empire", yes, the empire of motion picture movies dominated by Disney until now. Maybe Atlantis is worthy the crown of worst Disney movie in history?

News stored on 12.02.2002 - Futuro Imperfetto, new drawings
The journey in the dark kingdom goes on...Travel again in the world of Dark Avenger, created by Silverware. Nicoḷ Assirelli gives us four new complete illustrations: Huey and Louie generals of the Rebellion, the statue of Dark Avenger, Pk in the violent deathmatch against the neurodroids and Dark Avenger dominating Duckburg with his look. Moreover a pair of new sketches, one for the neurodroid robots and another one for Vittime di Guerra (War Victims), with Zondag wearing battle armour. Also an unexpected bonus: Pk dressed as Todd McFarlane's Spawn! All this into his third gallery.
Another sensational drawing from Futuro Imperfetto (Future Tense) by Giovanni Garattoni in the Concept Art Gallery #1, with Gyro Gearloose represented as it appears in the story: alcoholic and depression-illed! Next, always in the same gallery, there are a couple of character sketches for Miki, Ken's co-tenant in his personal series, K.EN. - KillerRat-Avenger?! o_O Engine, always created by Silverware but penciled by Morpheu5 and his sister Sheeva (yeah boys, now even the gods work for PKERS! ;). In Concept Art Gallery #2 you'll find a real candy: two preview drawings from Mp5's new project, "Portrait of the hero as young", that will tell the adventures of Donald as child, who already seemed willing to become a great super-hero! Even in the Rat-Avenger version!!!

Then, always 'cause we like to make you feel guilty, here are the covers of Fantonald for all year 2000!

News stored on 10.02.2002 - Official site updated
It seems protest are useful after all. We've just discovered that the Official PK2 site has been updated after something like 10 months of cerebral death. The URL also is changed, now it's http://www.disney.it/Publishing/pkmagazine/ . We liked some things better and some others less. An accurate comment has been posted via Pkersnews and on the two mailing lists, Pkeri and Pk4ever. On Pkersnews it's also in English, but you have to be subscribed in order to read it.

News stored on 06.02.2002 - Lyla's secret...
The young authors of the International School of ComicsIn Jesi the PK-mania has blown up! By spreading the Word of Pk, Rita Micozzi has conquered the Jesi division of the International School of Comics (now Silver's gonna take care of the one in Rome... ;), Lyla's secret... ^__^and so here's some new hi-level drawings only for PKERS: you can find 'em in the new dedicated gallery. Rita also is not missing the rendez-vous, with a couple of new sketches for her series Reportage and the first drawing of Lyla inspired to the Silverware's story, "The taste of the night", with the droid showing us some more than usual: all that is in Rita Micozzi Gallery #4. Evronians and Aliens, a deathmatchMoreover a new personal gallery for Paolo Dalla Valle was opened, and there you'll find among other things a number of drawings inspired to Silverware's novel Evron versus Alien.
And for all the lovers of Korinna, from Catenacci's plate (not Bertoni, it's the one of comics school) was made a artistic wallpaper that of course you can find at the bottom of the wallpapers page.

Then, just 'cause we like to make you feel guilty, in the PkDatabase were added the cover of Witch #11 and Fantonald year 1999.
