News stored on 25.04.2002 - Fan fiction great drawings
A special update, almost all about drawings inspired to our fan fictions!

The mighty trio of ReportageRita Micozzi makes the show: in her gallery #4 you'll find 4 newO_o amazing drawings, two of them colored, all about the characters of her series, Reportage. There's a nice Kat with his hand in ache, the trio Stefan-T@lita-Kat both in pencil and pastel version, and a drawing of Stefan with a old and ripped trench gazing at the city from a roof: it's enough to make the famous vignette of Pastrovicchio on PKNA #16 hide in shame. Take a look at it and you'll never read again PK in the same way!

Pk vs Ken, the great match on the roofsNicolò Assirelli is prolific as always! In his fifth gallery were added: the usual drawing aobut the last issue of PK2, a portrait of Will (it's just the second fanart piece about Witch that we host... c'mmon boys, you can do better, we accept also Witch fan art you know?), nonetheless four images inspired to Vittime di Guerra: a unpublished sketch of Seiano and 3 beautiful pictures of Ken, the charming ninja created by Silverware, in the famous fight against Pk on the roofs of Mary Ann's hospital.

Gorthan, macho & cursed!Opened too a third gallery for Paolo Dalla Valle, always with drawings on pk-fictions: 3 sketches for his "Il Terzo Occhio" ("The Third Eye") - coming very soon -, a preview for the new one "Wendigo", a suggestive illustration from Futuro Imperfetto (Future Tense) and another great one from Evron vs Alien, with Gorthan portraited in all of his great shape and evil power.

Also a picture by Luca Carnevali, student of the Scuola Internazionale di Comics (International School of Comics): in his surreal style here's a new colored image of Paperinik.

Little adds in the normal galleries: two new pictures in gallery #2 and #3, the former from an american friend named Cali, fan of the Mighty Ducks (don't mind if you don't know what they are, it's an american tv cartoon), the latter a graceful Witch drawing about Cornelia, sent by Francesca Teso.

News stored on 22.04.2002 - PK00, about the videogame
On April 18th, immediatly after the news stored on PKERS about the pk-videogame, Pk00 (www.pk00.too.it) gave some more spreading to the news... leaving about the infos copied without authorization onto their home page (with the credit to PKERS, yes, but someone should teach the webmasters about the charming science of putting also the links or the URL at least, and not only the site name), the article's redactor thought about making some add-ons of his own, interpretating sentences and giving elements we never mentioned. We are correcting these "fantasists" of the web:

- "the game won't be available for PSX only but also a CD version will be out"... curious: how stupid we were to keep trying for all this time to stuck our toasts inside the Playstation! ^__^
The game will be in Playstation and PC version, of course on CD-ROM.

- "it seems almost sure that the game will be a shooter (read: PK must carnage enemies of any kind)"... false statement, candidly born from our comparison with the famous Quake. We cited "Quake" just to explain better what a first-person shooter is to people unfamiliar with this terminology; but we never talked about any massacre made by Pikappa! It's always a Disney videogame, so it's nearly IMPOSSIBLE for it to be distant from the comic's violence level; and, you know, usually when Pk is facing coolflames and evronz he takes 'em down with a bradionic paralyzer shot, not a plasma cannon. Unless you're reading Silverware's "War Victims", of course! ;)

- "the official release will be on October, but new infos will come out on July". For "presentation" it's usually intended that the game is installed onto some computers at a comics festival and visitors are free to try it... at least we hope so.

Creative journalism... Konrad Kiwi has his own epigons, it seems.

News stored on 21.04.2002 - PK2 #16 & X-Mickey #1
TN_cover_pk2-16.JPG (2833 byte)The Quadrilogy's second issue has some surprises, but not all of them are positive. Col. Neopard, a character from PKNA series, comes back to involve Pk in another one of his weird campaigns.
Good are the drawings by the Pastrovicchio brothers, almost back to their usual level: they share in equal parts this issue and it's difficult to discriminate between their very similar styles. Despite their powerful art (although inferior to PKNA) that is also added with some kirbyian graphic themes, there are still some problems with character proportions, that suddely get enormous legs, arms and heads. Sisti's script follows his usual scheme, aka to tell a story well but mostly with many time losses and few deep emotions. It's a very rough spot for a professionist that until page 18 he wastes 9 plates to play with Angus, Geena and Everett when they do not have a further role in the story! But, the real bad thing in this story is that it seems to have no relation with the main plot! Ok, Pk acquires some new powerful weapons, but will he really need them?
Cover better than usual, also if Pk seems a kind of gummy goose... a curiosity: have you noticed that if you put this one close to the previous they make a unique picture (follow the smoke on the left)?
PKERS' rating: 6/10

TN_cover_xm-1000.JPG (2952 byte)Ladies and gentlemen now it's up to the month's main event: the first issue of X-Mickey (or maybe we should say #1000, since that's printed on the cover?!).
Well, that's it: we were worried and we were right. Although it's evident how much the authors were concerned in working at their best, the result is quite disappointing. It's not a technical problem: the drawings of Perina, Turconi, and Coppola are great. And the scripts are even better: suggestive Macchetto's one about the man/monster, so much Dylan Dog-like, very professional the one by Enna, who takes out texts impressively fitting for the series. So why we are disappointed? Because of the target! Low, lowest than ever. X-Mickey is a comic-book for 10 years old children, the stories are almost like the ones on Mickey Mouse. Thanks for this to the she-director Claretta Muci, who is even brave enough to greet us with an editorial concluded like this:
"We are sure you'll stay with us for long... soooo long..."... well, great, at least one of us is sure!!! We're just starting to feel an enormous nostalgy of MM... why ever they opened a new series to make stories like Mickey Mouse ones, they could respawn Topomistery at this point!
For us, working like that is a nonsense. So we'll keep an eye on X-Mickey still for a while, but if the target won't grow (and probably it won't) we'll just stop talking about it in the monthly reviews, because if we did we could talk about Disney Princesses too... and PKERS claims a little more grown public.
Dear readers, welcome to the impossible: yeah, like "How a director by herself alone is slowly destroying all the new-generation Disney series!"
PKERS' rating: n/a

More the covers of PK2 #16 and X-Mickey in the Pkdatabase were added also two new covers of Fantonald.

News stored on 20.04.2002 - Witch... cloned?
Isa e Bea, Streghe tra noiRecently in italian newsstands appeared a new comic-book that gained our attention... it's not by Disney, but it was curios for its similarities with another famous series that we know well: W.i.t.c.h.!

The magazine is "Isa e Bea Streghe tra noi" ("Isa & Bea, witches among us") and it's published by Edizioni Cioè, publisher specialized in magazines for preteen girls. The base model is similar to Witch: young teenagers gifted with magical powers, but living in our own age. But, this time the main characters are two witches from the middleages (gorgeous as usual), banished in the XXI century for having used their abilities in a wrong way.
A kind of bad Witch clone so? Not at all.

First of all, the technical making is completely out of the state-of-the-art. The subject is vaguely interesting, the script is childish, drawings are the delectant level, colors... well, leave it. There are also many gadgets as usual for girls' make up, and they seem to dry out those 3 Euro it costs, since the story is only 32 pages long. In its whole this comic-book seems just like a commercial magazine for little girls loving Harry Potter and Buffy but that understand nothing about comics.
But, although it's evident how this comic tries to ride the wave of success of the recent pseudo-esoteric productions for children and teens, we cannot accuse "Streghe" to be copied from Witch: part for some deep differences in the plot, part for the low-quality making, part for the article inside explaining how the idea is actually born from the director's (Marco Iafrate) little daughter, during August 2000, when also Witch was under construction or early just born. So the two ideas are mostly independent from each other, thus installing on the same genre for a matter of trend, in which Streghe had the bad luck (?) to be out later for a lack of resources instead of Disney.

We will not talk further about this comic anymore, but we'll try to keep an eye on it... you never know.

News stored on 18.04.2002 - PK-videogame?
On "Mouse" #12, PC magazine attached to "Mickey Mouse", inside the mail corner there was some spare talk about a Playstation PK videogame coming soon... well, the thing was already known inside the community since one year, and on Pkeri it was speculated since four years as well, but PKERS investigated and here are some important details.

The famous PK-videogame is actually going to be released, and it will be available in both Playstation and PC version. It was developed by Ubisoft for Disney Interactive and it's fully based on the first series PKNA (so, evronians!!!). The gameplay should be a first-person shooter, "Quake"-like for non-addicts. We also know the date of first release: October 2002, but it will be officially presented in Italy on July, exactly at the same time the new series of PK will be out.
We're still trying to get some preview screenshots! We're so curious too... ^^

News stored on 08.04.2002 - All the PKERS' girls
To thank our users of the victory in the Pk Redmarks contest, PKERS is offering a tasty fan art update by his artists, all drawings with a high sexy rate!

Wishes by Kori & Juny... smack!Nicolò Assirelli is once again the most prolific: in his fifth gallery you'll find four new drawings, all about Lyla, Juniper, Korinna & co.Liabel? From the chocolate Easter egg of our dreams, Juniper e Korinna birth naked like mummy did them, covered only with a big ribbon... a pretty nice way of wishing a merry Easter to the readers, maybe a little late but we hope you won't get angry for it. The other three are the usual drawing about the latest issue, also in a variant version, and an amazing portrait of Lyla in vest, with all of her beauty.

Watch and you'll see... Some day I'll be... PART OF YOUR WOOOOORLD...!Rita Micozzi doesn't make sitting duck: under suggestion of the old good Silver, she's giving us a real masterpiece. Lyla, Juniper and Korinna portraited like super-sexy mermaids on a rock, naked of course! Who has a good eye maybe will spot a pair of nips, hidden among hair... soon this drawing will be available also in pastel-colored version. Hurry up to Rita gallery #4 to download this great pic.

Surprise! What a pity, it's made of paper... ç__çPaolo Dalla Valle couldn't miss: curiously the idea is the same of Assirelli's drawing (that one suggested by Silverware too), but this time from the Easter egg comes out a nice Lyla, naked as always, un unfortunately there's the April fish. PDV gallery #2.

The parade is closed by the new entry Kiara Pasquini, giving us a tiny lovely drawing of Lyla in a japanese geisha version: that's the dream of every pker! Inside gallery #2.

Moreover a new Silverware wallpapper: Lyla in lingerie, for your desktop's delight. It's in the Wallpapers section, page 2.

Well, that's for: voting PKERS is quite convenient! Remember it! ;)

News stored on 06.04.2002 - Witch #15 - So chi sei
TN_cover_witch-13.JPG (2796 byte)Witch is entering with his 13th issue, entitled SO CHI SEI (I know who you are), into his second year of life. Closed once for all the Phobos thing, why the group should keep staying toghether?
That's it, the group seems under imminent dismantlement. Cornelia madly crying his beloved Caleb, turned into a little tiny flower to be kept on the abat-jour, sends her friends to hell; Will is about to leave Heatherfield; the other girls start having doubts about their friendship. Like if that wasn't enough, their powers have been reduced to minimum for punishment!
A pretty good plot, Artibani's one. Much like in the real world, the formerly close friends may stop being toghether: a vision completely opposed to the one given by many shojo-mangas, based on the monolitic sureness of the protagonists' friendship. The story has also some cinema taste, with Taranee being menaced by the Frost "maniac", a bit like in "I know what you did last summer". Witch, once again, is surprising.
Unfortunately we can't say the same about the drawings: at the technical stage, we are about to reach the lowest level. The figures lack of life, definition, characterization, they look static, movement lines are almost completely removed. Possibly the most stupid thing was to put Sciarrone on the layouts and Bertolucci & Panniello to the definitive drawings. The contrary would have been the best solution, because Sciarrone, having never worked on Witch, does not possess the secure hand shown on PK. In this manner someone who isn't very good at drawing worked on the layout of someone who is a great drawer but is not good at making layouts! Compliments for the great idea to the director.
We want indeed to highlight the wonderful main cover by Daniela Vetro, compensating partially the only one internal cover and the missing file about Frost.

PKERS' rating: 7/10

Remember also the appointment: on Sunday 14th April 2002 on Radio24, the radio show Pappappero (ghnn, in English it sounds terrible!) will devote all the episode (from 10 to 11 AM) to Witch's first year. You can talk to the transmission calling 800.281.111.
Who knows what they should organize, if they knew that PK has made 6 years as well!

News stored on 05.04.2002 - New Disney series
There are some big news about new-generation Disney series. Rumors have been going around for some time: now PKERS reveals some EXCLUSIVE PREVIEWS.

Details are still classified, but it's certain that at the end of the Quadrilogy began on #15 PK will undergo some big changes. Disney understood many people didn't like PK2, so at the end of July will launch a new series of PK that will start again from issue #1. Thus a new beginning (again), that should bring new lifeforce to the old PK. Let's hope for the best.

The other news is the publishing, on the end of April, of a new PK-like Mickey Mouse series. After the partially failed experience of MM, Disney has another try with X-Mickey, a unseen horror version of the popular (?) mouse. Mickey will handle cases worthy of Mulder and Scully: parallel dimensions, WereGoofies, monsters hidden into mirrors, mysteryous beings feeding people's memories (maybe evronians changed their tastes in the last times?). The series will feature also new characters: allies, foes, and his new sidekick Pipwolf, driving him into this new paranormal world. X-Mickey will feature two stories per month, one long and one short, much like the old PKNA; also articles by the well-known authors like Enna, Ambrosio, Cordara, Macchetto, Artibani etc...
The first episode is "NELLO SPECCHIO" ("In the mirror"), script by Enna and drawings by Perina.

We feel somehow perplexed about these new manoeuvres: we expected a new PK, but X-Mickey is a real surprise. We hope the MM lesson teached something up there, Mickey is a difficult chatacter to handle inside a new context. But we had doubts also on Witch, so it's better to see before judging...

And, if you think that's an April fish... see you at the newsstand!
