News stored on 17.4.2003 - PKERS on Scuola di Fumetto
The monthly magazine Scuola di Fumetto ("Comics School") was talked about a large number of times on these pages, because almost upon each issue there's some article about Disney world and around. For once, proudly, the roles inverted... in #10, now in newsstands, PKERS is recommended within the area of sponsored sites of the month. A huge "thanks" by all the team to the redaction, we admit it, we didn't feel so excited since Expocartoon! ^__^
Among the articles of this number, very interesting are the ones about self-publishing, a long interview to Don Rosa and the many infos about cash and work relations between publishers and cartoonists.

News stored on 17.4.2003 - Witch #24 & #25
This month we publish in the same entry the Witch reviews from the previous and the current issue. As always (from now on it won't be specified again) the reviews' author and also translator is Sarky.

Trust on Me...
... so I can tangle you better!

WITCH #24 - Trust on me
Well yes! After the escape of Caleb (Corny has acquired hectoliters of herbicide...), Will's burst (the oracle still trembles) and an astral drop out of control, crazy of love for Matt and that creates unbelievable troubles (needless to say of whom was...), this new episode brings on the scene a character from the great potentialities (at least I hope ^^). But let's go on order.
Matt introduces one friend of his to Will, Mandy, instigating our witch to a spectacular jealousy attack and to series of small spites against the new arrived. Needless to say as Will is felt when open that poor is only and entirely FRIEND of Matt and that his parents are divorcing. Thomas Vandom (yes, daddy is back ^ ^), it returns at home full of good intentions. Result: Susan in paranoia and Will to the seventh sky (for now...). Nothing would allow to think that the good Tom is trying to tangle Susan and to get the trust on their daughter O_o. Taranee, in punishment to have participated to a brawl, it discovers in the her mother office's the documents of the "Vandom case" and quickly part to the position to tell the friend. Will our preferred witches succeed in to avoid the new threat? (Phobos had style but he has failed as an idiot ^^,.. Nerissa was a psychopathic without future^^... We hope well...).
The script by  Paola Mulazzi (W#15 "The courage to choose " and " " W#20 " The hate's blow") it's without doubt faithful to his style, rich of feeling, with the magic reduced to the least necessary and with an unexpected final sensation (or almost). Me that The have considered him for the whole history an almost insipid character (I'm speaking of Thomas), in the last two pages has been to consider him a real #@! # !%§ò *%ç@§ (autocensorship on me). The sketches of Barbaro are splendid, even if in certain tables the most proper adjective would be debatable. (Let's intend us; I don't want to put in cross anybody. Do they pardon, if you are tired, don't you have to insist, otherwise you make mistakes as, for instance, the profile of Thomas on pg.63 that he vaguely remembers the "Hercules"'s Ade (Susan/Jasmine was not enough? Is Will daughter of two cartoons?) or the atrocious third classified of swimming competition (pg.72).). Fabulous instead the opening pin-up; the subject is in tune with the history (Matt and Mandy are known by the kindergarten and Will it was a child when her father gone, ^ ^... in short, it's tender). Novelty among the index books!! Elyon, is gotten tired to be not informed around last gossips and she has given a diary to her friends. From the next episode, our witches will give us anticipations and gossip (in practice the papery version of the site's diary).
PKERS' rating: 7,5/10

"At times I'm really awful, uh?"

WITCH #25 - Water's shades
It's a hard life for the newsstand man, particularly when it has to suffer my continuous assaults at the beginning of every month. New episode and new history, but the famous "third saga" not seen yet. After the Nerissa's departure, this is the third preparation episode to the new saga and, from the anticipations of the official site, it is not the last yet. Among goodbyes (Caleb returns to Meridian ^^ together with the prof. Rudolph and breaking the heart of Cornelia) and new arrivals (An applause for Mr. Vandom, new entry for the bastards team), quarrels and incomprehension (Astral drops; to scourge for the humanity ^_^), finally here is an episode where is absolute protagonist our affectionate Irma. But let's pass to the history: Irma meets a strange oldie, Jewell, that asks help to her. Jewell can see future the and for this motive he is persecuted by a criminal that intends to exploit him for his traffics. But Jewell is not what seems; it's in reality a shade of water. Irma is the only one able to regain to Jewells his lost liberty.
Needless to say that Enna has again scored to winning draught succeeding in creating from to banal conceives to screen-play that pure is poetry to the papery ^^. In this adventure, Irma shows us the maximum of her awkwardness but also of her immense heart (the quarrel with her stepmother is an authentic touch of class, if allow me the expression, that recuperates the original project of the Lair family and what, gives the similarity among Ann and Irma, I belived set aside. We also meet Ralph Sylla, Interpol agent under coverage that investigates on the strange events that happen around the girls. Good or Bad? Who knows?! It's soon to say, but surely an irksome.
Splendid the sketches of Giada Perissinotto (W#17, #20 and the third part of the special Elyon) that shows us a not indifferent talent. Particularly the looks are incredibly expressive, also without the wisecracks as the marvellous sequence of page 17-18 in which Irma meets Jewell.
What can I say?... to splendid number (at times The miracles happen) and the editorial ones (Back stage, mail and characters cards) they show how much the diligence there is behind our preferred comic strip. Flat as usual the index books of fashion and the tests.
PKERS' rating: 8/10 (adjusted by Silver: Sarky was going for 8,5)

News stored on 14.4.2003 - Witch manga
For all those people saying that Witch is a manga, here's a surprise: now it really IS! In fact japanese Disney has just published on Kadokawa Shoten's monthly magazine Asuka an actual manga version of the popular comic. Witch's success seems without limits and now it's ready to explode also in the sunrise land. If you can read kanjis the official page is http://www.disney.co.jp/hon/comic/index.html. We just can't wait to put our hands on this little jewel also in Italy, even though it probably won't be easy. There are multiple questions we're asking: why didn't they publish the original fine comic book? And will the storyline be respected or this version is completely independent from ours? We'll keep you informed of all we can learn.
And meanwhile, since Japan is also earth of doujinshi, pkers are already on the hunt for Witch hentai that are surely going to flood us within months! Of course if you find something before us, just submit it :)))). Who knows if this time Disney will go throwing sues around on japanese fans like happened to us...

News stored on 3.4.2003 - Skydoll and Blacksad
Big news from Disney-like authors!

A new Blacksad book is coming, do you remember the black cat detective investigating Natalia Wilford's killing? We reviewed the first issue here: http://pk.immaginario.net/index/speciale/blacksad/blacksad.htm. At this time our private detective will get involved into a story concerning racism, in fact this sequel looks much more mature-oriented than the previous that was not bad for itself. And talking about books, did you know there is one featuring backstages and making-of from the first story? You can find more info here: http://www.bdnet.com/9782205052909/alb.htm, where it is also possible to ship via Internet, but prices are quite expensive.

Good news also for the authors of the popular Skydoll, Barbucci and Canepa! A recent news from afNews informs that they won both the prizes "Cinghiale di bronzo" and "Pantera 2002" for their work, including a good cash of 8000 Euro. Congratulations to both the fine artists! Meanwhile Scuola di Fumetto #9 devotes an interesting article about the coloration process of Skydoll, explained by the colorist herself, Barbara Canepa.
And what about the third issue of Skydoll? Here's a special news: it will be out probably at the end of 2003, after September. But before it, we'll enjoy with the special Skydoll #0!
