PKERS went to both the important comics conventions hold in November, Lucca Comics (near Florence) and Expocartoon (in Rome), so this month you get a double-sized reportage!

Lucca Comics 2002

This year the exhibition was even larger than the previous editions, and useless to say - overcrowded as never. Thus, presenting a complete report of all events and protagonists is utterly impossibile - we'll limitate to our concern: the Disney stand!

PKERS team! Assirelli, R. Micozzi, Silver, Kappa, Mp5, L. Micozzi! "Lemme touch 'em!", would say Claretta...Made up again in the middle of Palasport, just like last year, Disney's stand showed no substantial differences. There was the selling space, the same real-size figures of Witch and PK (with some new presences, as Elyon and maybe One), and possibly the same faces as well.
This year gathered the biggest pkers group ever seen: among the community "celebrities" there were Silverware, Rita e Laura Micozzi, Nicoḷ Assirelli, Morpheu5, Kappa, Wago, Tyxy, Fabiopk, Stefano "Essekappa", Pikey, Lk, Cheyenne and so many others! Fighting with teeth and claws against hordes of elementar's smart children and most of all little girls ready-to-everything to get a single Witch sticker, we did put under siege the stand and the poor penciler fellows, offered by Disney as sacrifices to satisfy the readers' thirst for sketches. While Wago (Eclypse Neo's webmaster) and company hammered heavy on a poor girl in the selling area to get tons of stickers and prints, others were in queue to have a drawing made by Sciarrone, Turconi and Rigano (we found out that's to be said Ŕgano, with the stress on "i"). The unlucky pencilers were forced to produce one sketch about PK each ten about Witch, and in fact every time they were asked of a character bearing a beck you could see the color spreading back on their faces... most of them Sciarrone, who after a while began to draw Elyons all looking alike!

The exhibition was undoubtfully cool, but we were disappointed because of the different amount of space devoted to Witch and PK - useless to said who had the most. In fact there was a plenty of Witch stuff all around: calendars, italian and foreign covers, nonetheless the usual gadgets attached to the magazine and giant figures everywhere, while only beyond the X-Mickey place you could spot a small couple of Playstations with the PK logo and game on, crowded with children calling our hero "goose" and such.

This year was sticked on the wall a big paper block, in which the lovely little girls fans of Witch could pay a tangible scrawl of their affection to their heroines: actually as soon as we arrived we started filling the sheets with PK-drawings! Rita left a nice sketch of Lyla, Morpheu5's sister (Sheeva) put herself on drawing Skydoll, while some unknown old pker fellow wrote down some unreportable sentences about the elementar's smart children... in fact that sheet vanished very soon... ^^

We catched too a couple of original drawings, that you can find below with some other stuff and photos.

Expocartoon Mediagateshow 2002 (Rome)

Big daddy Trauma...Those who followed the troubled adventure that brought the authors of this site to show their own plates to Expocartoon knows well how many problems we were given: disillusions, discarded promises, poisoned phone calls, last minute runs. You can find the back story here and in the news of November 2002. But in the end all went out well, and we can rightfully say that THE EXHIBITION WAS A GREAT SUCCESS!

Indeed yes, those six plates (do you remind: four in preview from The Taste of the Night, then PK Battlecry and Trauma SE4) raised a good interest and even sensation. Many people stopped and watched them, probably attracted from the novelty they represented. Confused and amazed voices asking what those drawings were: was it a very original Disney stand? Tempestively Silver and Rita ambushed visitor after visitor, distributing flysheets and explaining everyone what we are and what we do. We definitely gained many new users and many more people now knows about the existence of pk-community and our way of seeing Disney comics. We received a lot of congratulations, some photographed the plates one by one and a pair of persons even rumored something about a hentai story of PK! ^^;
But almost everyone told us the same: "Disney Company should publish things like this, not that shit of PK's third series or X-Mickey!!!". Well, we just hope them to understand it someday...

A preview plate from TTOTNVisitors apart, we collected some attention from high environments too! In fact the TG2 (national tv news) honoured us of a place in its reportage about Expocartoon, transmitted at 00.50 AM of Friday early morning, in which could be seen a pair of our plates (one from TTOTN and PK Battlecry), reportage that you can download below in Media Player format. We really thank the reporter Roberto Valentini for the interest shown!

Also afNews in its photo reportage underlined our presence, and even allowed us of the main titles, among all the authors more important than us that could choose! For a while you'll still find the article on www.fumetti.org/afnews, but if it's been already moved you can reach it following this link.

So, a triumph from our point of view! But we were given of the greatest satisfaction from the most unlikely public... a group of 1st medium school boys and girls that passing there saw the plates and stared at them in amaze. Talking with them we found out that these boys are REALLY smart, in fact they did nothing but repeat "PK sucks as it's now, it's stuff for snotty kids, we read only mangas full of people shooting and naked women like City Hunter and I''s, we'd want so bad to read Disney comics as YOU do them... we don't get shocked, only adults think that, but we want comics for adults!!!"
We had them worshipped, embraced, kissed and flysheeted all over, waiting for them to send us some of their drawings. Thanks boys, thanks for proving we were right! With your words you made Disney do a very poor figure, they've been showed up by the same readers they claim with their grotesque ideas about target, because you proved yourselves much more intelligent and smart of those who take these decisions... THESE are the real SMART KIDS, THESE ARE THE REAL PKERS, of any age... we pay homage to your sincerity, you proved that there is still hope!
